Taping and Kinesiotaping

Taping and Kinesiotaping

Kinesiotaping –

This method of taping is designed to encourage the body to heal in a natural way. The taping provides support for joints and muscles but does not restrict the body’s range of movement. This allows a therapeutic benefit to occur and assist in prolonging the soft tissue treatment which has been a precurser to the taping. The tape will stay in place for several days and is a great tool in injury recovery, injury prevention and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal and neurological conditions.

Further benefits;

  • Pain relief through support of soft tissues and joints
  • Decrease in inflammation via reduced localised pressure and increased circulation
  • A reminder to the muscles, joints and soft tissues to work in their correct manner
  • Assist the joints and soft tissues to work in their correct line of pull
  • Can be used in all age groups
  • Non restrictive as opposed to rigid taping methods

Taping –

Your therapist may apply rigid tape to prevent or restrict movement on a certain joint or area of soft tissue. We tend not to use this often as Kinesiotaping is much more effective.
