Podiatrists are experts in the health of the feet and lower limbs. They assist in diagnosing, preventing, and treating a variety of foot and related issues.
This can range from an ingrown toenail to surgical procedures. Many individuals experience toenail disorders, warts, or pain in the heel or arch. Additionally, there may be skin issues, balance problems, sprains, and strains. Do you also suffer from diabetes, arthritis, foot odour, rashes, or injuries?
Your Registered, Qualified Podiatrist is here to assist you!
how does podiatry keep your feet healthy?
A Podiatrist, also known as a Chiropodist, is the ideal professional to consult when you experience issues with your feet.
Improper footwear, ill-fitting shoes, or high heels frequently lead to problems such as corns, swelling, deformities, ingrown toenails, and overall unhealthy feet.
Injuries affecting the feet, ankles, or lower limbs can also create complications for the entire body, particularly when poor walking habits and compensatory mechanisms develop.
As we grow older, the structure of our feet often undergoes changes, resulting in conditions like bunions, arthritis, and the effects of previous injuries.
Are you an avid sports player? This can significantly influence your movement patterns, balance, and recovery. You might require orthotics, nail care, or guidance on selecting appropriate footwear for your feet—our Podiatrist is available to alleviate some of the strain on this often-overlooked part of the body.
Podiatry is available through the EPC plans issued via your GP.
What to Expect

Podiatry Assessment
Your Podiatrist will review your medical and family history, conduct a physical examination, and may request imaging. During your appointment, your Podiatrist will observe your feet in motion, so it is advisable to bring your preferred shoes. Based on the issue at hand, your Podiatrist will then outline the most suitable treatment options, which may include skin and nail care, orthotics, exercises, topical creams, and additional therapies.

Nail and Foot Care
Podiatry will employ a variety of sterilized tools to address even the most challenging nails. The function and application of these tools will be clarified to you throughout your appointment. While some may produce noise and others may be sharp, rest assured that your Podiatrist will strive to reduce any discomfort during your treatment.

Orthotics and Supports
Orthotics are personalized shoe or heel inserts. They are intended to alleviate discomfort for individuals suffering from ankle and foot ailments. These inserts correct deformities, offer cushioning, help avert additional injuries, and deliver comfort and pressure relief, particularly for the heel, foot arch, and ankle.

Happy Healthy Feet
Many individuals overlook the care of their feet; however, they play a crucial role in our overall health. Changes in walking patterns due to corns, calluses, warts, bunions, splits, skin rashes, blisters, arthritis, and ingrown toenails can impact our entire body. Malodorous feet and deformities can lead to a lack of self-confidence, but proper foot care has the potential to rebuild that confidence.
