Osteopathy
An Osteopath provides the perfect combination of modalities to gently treat your skeletal, muscular and nervous systems. Osteopathy is a hands on therapy designed to release pressure and tension within the body. An Osteopath helps to realign and manipulate joints and the spine, strengthen the core and limbs. Osteopaths treat the musculoskletal framework as a whole to restore optimal health and function.
Osteopathy Technique
A common question we hear is What is Osteopathy? You have heard of Chiropractors, Physiotherapists, Myotherapists but the lesser known Osteopathy technique is one to be embraced. The answer is that Osteopathy utilizes a combination of techniques from all of these professions but modified to bring a more gentle approach to health care. Low level manipulation, passive joint mobility, injury recovery and prevention, corrective exercises, massage, soft tissue release are all techniques used by an Osteopath. An Osteopath can also refer you for imaging if deemed necessary.

Osteopathy Technique
Osteopathic Care involves manual therapy applied to the joints, muscles and spine to positively affect the body’s nervous, circulatory and lymphatic systems. Osteopathy focuses on gentle manipulation as opposed to heavier chiropractic techniques. Imaging may be required but this will be determined after a thorough assessment.

Craniosacral Therapy
The craniosacral system is the membrane and fluid that surrounds, protects and nourishes the brain and spinal cord. If there are restrictions in cranial mobility or neural tension, this can reduce the health and performance of the central nervous system. Osteopathy treatment can help relieve these pressures and restore mobility, therefore reducing stress on this system.

Postural Check
Our body’s are highly influenced by our surroundings. Vehicles, seating, lifting techniques, computers, shoes are all just examples of what our body can poorly adapt to. Your Osteopath is trained to find these imbalances and advise ergonomic changes to your environment to eliminate and prevent negative influences on our musculoskeletal and nervous systems.

Corrective Exercises
Once imbalances are identified and corrected, your Osteopath will advise you how to prevent these problems from reoccurring whilst strengthening the musculoskeletal system. Most of these will be easy to follow, home based exercises, gentle in nature to engage the correct muscles and joint positions.

Myofascial Release
Myofascial Release (MFR) is a type of massage which focuses on releasing tension in the fascia of the body. Fascia is a strong connective tissue that surrounds muscles and organs and is often responsible for conditions such as pain, stiffness and limited range of motion.

HVLA/Manipulation
HVLA (High Velocity Low Amplitude) is a short fast movement applied to a spinal segment or joint to move it through its restrictive barrier. It aims to increase range of motion and decrease pain by stimulating surrounding soft tissues and calming the neural tension. Sometimes popping can be heard, this is just pressure releasing from the joint fluid and is perfectly safe.

Joint Mobilisation and Articulation
Joint Mobilization and Articulation are gentle gliding movements of the joint surfaces. Designed to increase localized movement and release pressure within the joint, this passive method is a comfortable way to increase range of movement.

Deep Tissue Massage
Our Most Popular Massage type! Deep Tissue Massage can be Uncomfortable during the Treatment Session but the Benefits Far Outweigh the Soreness afterward. Best for clients who prefer a Deep Pressure or for Particularly Stubborn areas of Soft Tissue or Adhesions/Scarring.
