Dry Needling
Dry Needling
Dry Needling is a technique now commonly utilised by many therapists. It is different to Acupuncture in its theory and application but the tools are similar. Referred to as Myofascial Trigger Point Needling, A solid filiform needle is used to treat the musculoskeletal and nervous systems of the body.
There are many benefits to Dry Needling, these include;
- Decrease in pain symptoms, musculoskeletal and neurological
- Increased localised blood flow, important for tissue healing
- Relaxation effect within the muscle fibres/decrease tension of soft tissues
- Increased movement and relief to movement impairments
- Dispersing of trigger points and tight bands within muscles and connective tissues
- Safe, effective, usually pain free in application
A wide range of conditions can be treated. Sometimes there may be an initial prick and ache as the needle is inserted and the ache may remain for 24 – 48 hours
